TV Shows

In From The Cold – Season 1 (2022) – Rating: 3.5/5

In From The Cold is a series with a mixture of genres including thriller, drama, action, and mystery. The cast was good, and the main actress Margarita Levieva was great in her role and made a great leading lady in the series. I also thought the addition of Jenny’s abilities was interesting. I also didn’t mind the flashbacks which helped the audience to know a bit more about Jenny’s past. There’s also a few twists in this show as well. I did find that Jenny’s daughter annoyed me a few times and also had me concerned about her behavior/actions as well, but it’s nothing that impacted my viewing of the show. In From The Cold is a slick action thriller, that is entertaining and delivers a unique series.

Dark Desire – Season 2 (2022) – Rating: 5/5

Here we are with another season of Dark Desire and we aren’t just focused on Alma and Dario, but we have the mystery of who murdered Dario’s bride to be, Julieta. Let me tell you this season is a roller coaster. I feel like even the police in the show doesn’t know what to think and who to believe surrounding the death of Julieta. The cast gives great performances, and we also have some new characters, in which some got on my nerves lol. In this season there are surprises and twists I was not expecting and that last episode was so satisfying. Dark Desire is a thriller, mystery, drama series with some steamy scenes and if you thought season one was something, wait until you watch this season.

Peacemaker – Season 1 (2022) – Rating: 5/5

I had a blast with this series from beginning to end. Loved the cast. And the performances of John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, and Steve Agee were fantastic. James Gunn did an amazing job with these characters. But this is like his area of expertise, he takes these characters that are different, complex, outcast, etc. and you end up rooting for them and care for them. I also enjoyed the mission this team went on which included some interesting characters. And can we talk about the intro to the show ? The song and the dance routine are so catchy, so don’t skip it lol. Also during the finale episode we got a surprise cameo lol. I loved season 1 of Peacemaker. It was action packed, wild, heartfelt, funny, and an absolute blast. I am so ready for season 2. James Gunn you did an amazing job with this series.

Moonfall (2022)- Rating: 3.5/5

As someone who is a fan of disaster movies, I knew that I had to watch this film. Moonfall gave me what I expected to see from this film genre. I enjoyed the cast and the performances were great between Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and John Bradley. I thought these three had awesome chemistry in the film. The movie did a good job incorporating funny moments which came courtesy of the actors I mentioned above. There were times I smiled and laughed during the movie. One of my favorite things about disaster movies is the action in them, and Moonfall provided me with the action I needed. The visuals and special effects in this film were awesome, especially the images of outer space and the moon. Moonfall kept me entertained from beginning to end. The movie did take an interesting and unexpected direction in the last 30-45 minutes of the film, which people will either be okay with or not lol. I didn’t take the film seriously and just enjoyed it for what it was, and I had a fun time with this movie. Moonfall is fun, entertaining, action-packed, and is an enjoyable disaster movie, especially for fans of disaster movies.

Death On The Nile (2022) – Rating: 3.5/5

Back in 2017 we were introduced to Kenneth Branagh’s portrayal of Agatha Christie’s famed detective Hercules Poirot in Murder On The Orient Express. And Death On The Nile serves as it’s sequel. Just like Orient Express this movie has an ensemble cast introducing the audience to the characters. Kenneth Branagh as Poirot is always great to see onscreen and for me Emma Mackey and Sophie Okonedo gave some of the movie’s highlight performances. I liked that the film took place in Egypt on a cruise ship being that it’s someplace contained. The beginning of the film’s opening took me a bit by surprise but I thought it was an interesting touch to give us a little background on Poirot. It did take about a hour into the film for the murder to happen, but I still enjoyed the journey of getting to that point. The second half of the film also became suspenseful. I liked and appreciated the way Poirot revealed the killer and the manner he went about it. I had a fun time and enjoyed watching this movie. Death On The Nile is an engaging, well acted whodunnit that fans of murder mysteries will enjoy.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) – Rating: 3.5/5

I had a good time with this movie and I enjoyed it for what it was. The cast was good. The movie is fast paced and doesn’t take long to get the ball rolling. And I found some of the scenes were suspenseful. Leatherface doesn’t hold back with the kills and lets them have it. He’s throwing hammers and chainsaws and I could not help but to laugh lol. I also find it funny when he’s just wildly swinging that chainsaw around lol. That bus scene was crazy, and so was the ending. I came for a massacre and that’s what I got. There’s a little post credit scene too. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is brutal, fast paced, bloody and a fun movie.

The Cursed (2022) – Rating: 4/5

I enjoy watching werewolf movies and I feel like The Cursed really delivered a great werewolf film. The cast was very good in their roles. Boyd Holbrook is great and charismatic as the lead and Kelly Reilly was also great in her supporting role. One thing I love about this film is how it isn’t your typical werewolf movie and gives a fresh take on the werewolf myth. Folklore, superstition, curses, and religion are some of the elements in this film. This movie is atmospheric with its dark, gloomy, and gothic tone. The setting, set design, and cinematography were stunning. The movie’s runtime is 112 minutes and it’s a slow burn but it’s well done which works for the film. The beast/werewolf’s transformation and design is my one my favorite things about the film. The practical and visual effects of the werewolf look/design is well done and creepy, also the the werewolf/beast does not hold back on its gore filled attacks. I really enjoyed watching this movie and was satisfied with the end result. The Cursed is atmospheric, gory, suspenseful, has a great cast, is a slow burn and intense. This film is one of the best werewolf movies I’ve seen and I think many fans of werewolf films will enjoy it.

Fistful Of Vengeance (2022) – Rating: 3/5

This movie serves as a follow up to the first season of the series Wu Assassin, which I watched last year. The good thing is that you don’t necessarily have to watch the first season to understand what’s going on in the movie. The cast performances are good since some of the characters return from the show and there’s also some new characters as well. The fight scenes are well choreographed and probably my favorite thing about the movie. This film isn’t amazing but it kept me entertained. Fistful Of Vengeance is an entertaining fight movie that’s fast paced, fun with some good action and lead actors.

I Want You Back (2022) – Rating: 4/5

This was a rom-com that I really enjoyed. The ensemble cast was great in their roles and it was nice seeing faces that I knew in the movie. The two leads Jenny Slate and Charlie Day were fun to watch and these two have fantastic chemistry. I know these two were wanting to get back with their exes, but I just wanted these two to be together lol. The movie is almost two hours long but I think it’s well paced and you see how each character’s relationship/life is like after the breakup. It’s like a journey for the two lead characters and you’re waiting to see their “destination”. I laughed quite a bit throughout the movie, and while it is funny it’s also a cute and heartwarming movie. I Want You Back is fun, charming, relatable, and it’s one of the best rom-com movies I’ve seen in a while.

Book Of Love (2022) – Rating: 3.5/5

This movie was such a cute watch. The cast was great and I really enjoyed the on screen chemistry of the two leads played by Sam Claflin (Henry) and Verónica Echegui (Maria) I thought it was funny how Henry’s book did not do well in London but after his book was rewritten it became a bestseller in Mexico, although it’s written in a way he disapproves lol. I really liked seeing Henry and Maria’s spending time with each other and you can see the sparks between the two and know they are establishing feelings for one another. Henry and Maria also come to some realizations about themselves while being around each other which is also nice to see. This movie also made me laugh a few times especially in regards to the rewritten novel lol. Book Of Love is vibrant, entertaining, fun, and a light hearted film that I enjoyed watching.

No Exit (2022) – Rating: 4/5

No Exit delivered a thrilling mystery and I enjoyed watching it unfold. The actors were great and are well casted. Blizzards, closed roads and a group of strangers in a visitor center creates the perfect atmosphere and setting for this film. I would consider this film a whodunnit where we have these strangers and have to decide who’s the bad guy and who can be trusted. Everyone is a suspect and some are more suspicious than others and that’s the mystery of it. After the reveal of the bad guy happens it just jump starts the next surprising moments from there, where the movie becomes a roller coaster of twists and turns. It starts off one way and shifts into something else unexpected, which is a good thing lol. This was a thriller I enjoyed. No Exit kept me engaged, is intense, suspenseful and has non stop thrills.
