Review By Me

2019’s Pet Sematary is one of a couple movies that have been remade from Stephen King’s books, along with Carrie and IT. Sometimes I ask why are remakes made ? Is it to introduce a new generation to these stories/films ? While some remakes I feel impartial to, I still try to give them a chance and watch them. Most of the time, remakes stay true to the original and may add a twist or some surprises, and Pet Sematary is no different. While I haven’t read any Stephen King’s books yet, I know from his film adaptions that they are some really good reads; The setting, the characters, and the plot are some things that makes his movie adaptions one of a kind. As always, the following review will be spoiler free. The movie is pretty similar to the 1989 version. You know the family ( which comprises of the mom, dad, daughter, and son) moves to a small town to get out of the city, and the father who is a doctor to spend more time with the family. Soon after they move in they meet the neighbor next door, who if you saw the original, got pretty close to the family. The performances in this movie were great, you got the same reaction from these characters as you would’ve in the original. It also had that creepy atmosphere and tone to the movie just like the original. Grief and death is always a tough subject to talk about especially with children, as it was difficult to talk about with the daughter. The effects and visuals are better than the original thankfully with the improvement in technology. The one thing I wasn’t too excited about was the ending, I’m not going to say how it ended, but I wasn’t too fond of it. Overall I did enjoy this remake, it was creepier, thrilling, and had a twist, different than the original. And yes sometimes dead is better 🙂 If you enjoy Stephen King adapted movies, or want something thrilling to watch I recommend Pet Sematary. If you’ve seen it, let me know what you think below in the comments. Thanks for reading !
